Ian was only 16 years old when he started in the entertainment business as a percussion player in the Westside Combo. Today, he is credited as producer and co-founder of one of the funniest comedy groups in the Caribbean, the 35-year-old Laff-it-Off. He understands that promoting comedy is a serious business and an integral part of Caribbean culture. Ian’s passion for comedy has helped to facilitate Laugh-it-Off’s sold-out performances throughout the Caribbean, Canada, Europe, and the United States. Ian is also the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) of Barbados. As CEO of NCF, he produced and managed Barbados’ Crop Over Festival for several years. During that time, he was also Executive Producer of the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) and led Barbadian contingents to CARIFESTA in Suriname (2003) and Trinidad and Tobago (2006). In 2006, he also led the contingent that represented Barbados at the African Caribbean & Pacific (ACP) Arts Expo in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and in 2007, he led a contingent of 13 Barbadian stilt walkers who performed at the Opening Ceremony of the ICC’s Cricket World Cup Tournament at Trelawney, Jamaica. He also led the NCF’s team in the production of the cultural events that were staged in Barbados for the said tournament.
