Manager Visual Services

Description

As the Manager of Visual Services on the Sunshine Awards stage production team, Donna Belgrave plays a pivotal role in enhancing the visual experience of the prestigious event. Inspired by Gilman T. Figaro, Sr.’s dream to pay tribute to Caribbean art innovators, Donna contributes to the positive and enduring impact on society envisioned by the Sunshine Awards. Since the program’s inception in 1989, Donna has been a valuable member, aiding in executing the Sunshine Awards that began as “Calypso and Steelband Music Awards Inc.” On the historic night of June 24, 1989, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Donna’s role as the Manager of Visual Services contributed to the success of the First SUNSHINE Awards® Program, themed “A Reflection on the History of Calypso and Steelband Music.” Twenty awards were presented, selected by independent judges, accompanied by stellar performances from well-known Caribbean artists. As the Sunshine Awards Program expanded globally, recognizing unsung heroes from various regions, Donna’s expertise in visual services became even more crucial. Her contribution aligns with the program’s endorsement by the National Academy for the Recording Arts and Sciences in 1994 and the United Nations’ endorsement in 1998. Donna Belgrave’s dedication reflects the Sunshine Awards Program’s commitment to embracing cultural diversity, enhancing the program’s visual impact, and contributing to the values of discipline and ethics through the performing arts.
